Here is one for the “after thoughts”. (Also a good topic to kick-start this blog, I’d say).

I wanted to include a “blog” section on this website. Too bad I used the built-in “blog functionality” to create the Know-how section.

So how to publish two blogs into a single platform, without changing all the theme, reorganising existing content, installing complex plugins, etc.?

Simple:

  • Publish these posts under a blog category
  • Hide them from the “normal” blog feed
  • Create a page and list only posts within the blog category

And here go 60 minutes to customise the CSS of some ugly-but-useful output spit out by the one plugin I decided to install. Because I’m too cheap to go and purchase the theme just for one functionality. 😛

Note to my future self: if something breaks in the future in the “Blog” page (which really is just a static page with a shortcode, not a real blog page), at least I’ll have a clue on what failed. But until we reach the 15 posts we should be safe. 😇
